This group grew out of a post on the Durrës Life Facebook group. There had been book clubs previously among the expats, but all had lapsed. The group kicked off on April 11, 2026, with the first book discussion on Ismail Kadare's Ghost Rider (Kush e solli Doruntinën in Albanian), a story based on the traditional Albanian ballad of Konstandini and Doruntina. The group comprised five Albanian readers and three expats, but the discussion was entirely in English.
The next group discussion, on May 18, will be on the book Free: Coming of Age at the End of History by another Albanian writer, Lea Ypi.

The Club meets once a month, on a Monday (the only weekday when all members have free time). The next club is on May 18th.
